Please make sure you are detailing the following information in your narrative: A brief synopsis of the individual’s career — assignments, positions, etc. Any deployments, leadership time, schools, awards, etc. *You MUST also include the total number of years (across all assignments) on Airborne, Air Assault or Special Operations Status in your narrative. Nominations that do not include the total number of years may be downgraded or denied.   The Awards Board will not calculate the total number of years.  It must be spelled out clearly.  These time frames MUST correspond to the requirements for the level you are selecting for your nominee (i.e. Guardian 8 years, Angelic 5 years and Cherubim 2 years). Narratives cannot be in list/bullet format, must be in paragraph format — please take the time to make sure your narrative is well written, comprehensive, and reflects the quality of the soldier you are nominating. **Please ensure write-up states Order of St. Michael-Airborne, NOT St. Maurice.     Requirements for Order of Saint Michael – Archangel Award
    At least one of the top three requirements MUST be met in addition to one other requirement.
    Requirement for OSM-A Guardian Award
    Must have been assigned to an Airborne, Air Assault, or Special Operations Unit for 8 years or longer.
    **Must meet the first listed requirement and two of the other six to qualify for this level.
    Requirement for OSM-A Angelic Award
    Must have been assigned to an Airborne, Air Assault, or Special Operations Unit for 5 years or longer
    ** MUST meet the first listed requirement and two of the other six to qualify.
    Requirements for OSM-A Cherubim Award
    Must have been assigned to an Airborne or Air Assault Unit for 2 years or longer.
    **MUST meet the first listed requirement and two of the other four to qualify for this level.
    OSM-A Requirements for Seraphim Award
    Must have been assigned to a foreign (non-US) Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder or Special Operations Unit for 1 year or longer or completed a tour of duty

    PLEASE NOTE THAT NOMINATIONS SUBMITTED FOR THE LAST AWARDS BOARD OF THE YEAR WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL THE NEW YEAR. You must pay for shipping unless you are picking up the award locally at our office in Columbus, GA. Failure to pay for shipping when necessary may delay your award.

    Please Read Carefully:

    Submissions are accepted for the upcoming board until 10am EST two days before the board. Submissions which are submitted too late for that meeting may not be changed to “rush” status, because doing so disrupts the schedules of Board members and staff. Board results are sent within one week of the board to the email listed for awards communication. Allow 30 days after final board approval for processing of medal and certificate.

    It is the responsibility of the nominator to ensure that nominations are complete, to include payment and appropriate NIA membership status. Incomplete packets will not be processed, nor will the NIA be responsible to notify the nominator.
